The fact that many of these morons somehow made it to “opinion leader” status just scares the living snot out of me.  This is a good dissection of the Mel-defenders.  And seriously, many of them are quite well respected.

Just for the record, I think most of Mel’s movies are fun.  Road Warrior is, IMHO, an all-time post-apoloyptic classic.  And I think he’s basically a good guy.  Just also an alcoholic and anti-Semite.  It isn’t like he would actually kill a Jew, because he’s such a good Catholic, but there isn’t much doubt anymore among the “alcohol is often truth serum” crowd, of which I am a member, how he really feels.

However, so?  Let the marketplace of ideas decide.

I still like Mel.  Just not deeply.
