Wouldn’t it be far more free-market efficient to actually PAY whistleblowers some amount to start a new life, not a ridiculous amount since every whistleblower of note would, typically by definition, have made some reasonable dough. If the old janitor does it, we pay more. But not enough to go to jail for, say, if said whistleblower had no evidence before a case was even presented to an attorney.

Just age/income adjust it on an agreed upon curve (“FLAW!,” I hear the half-dozen screams) based solely on age and income.

In terms of actual human behavior, it sort of seems like a no-brainer to me. Even if we paid whistleblowers CEO-severance package amounts, we’d save a shitload of public dough.

Please FSM bring someone to tell me why I don’t get it.
