Stadiums of any kind named after corporations.

Which is not to say I mind corporations buying them, but there’s gotta be a better way to make your presence known there than renaming the damn thing. It’s like tax increases or Wall St. bailouts: Everyone hates it. The difference is that tax increases and Wall St. bailouts are necessary, and renaming stadiums is not. Even to the bottom line.

A corporation could get some good mileage out of buying a stadium with a landmark name and making a big deal out of not renaming it. But what do I know.

Update: All right, this is a TERRIBLE “things I despise” opener. “Despise” is a strong word, and shouldn’t be used out of context. So, in my head, the new post title is, “Get off my lawn.”
