Given that we are the Uber-Wonderful, Toughest, Strongest, Bestest Country in the World, it seems a bit …. defensive? wimpy? whiny? that they feel we must proclaim our wonderfulness at every occasion, and must never apologize when we have done something wrong, or show respect for any other country.
In my experience, the baddest hardass on the street doesn’t have to show it off every time. A gracious apology from the strongman can be useful in diplomatic relationships. And someone who knows they are on top doesn’t have to prove it at every moment.
These piddling, scared little people only show how little they believe in their own strength when they insist on dominance displays rather than confidence.
