…a.k.a., Joke Line, for his late coming to the party. Not the “Party,” the one he ostensibly represents as TIME’s “liberal” columnatist, but the party that has known what Joe is suddenly seeing after all these years.

I’m kinder to Joe than most. I would rather have him late to the party than absent altogether. Still, his Village Idiocy is remarkable, and the power of the Village is not better exemplified in anyone I can think of, which is also remarkable.

Joe’s OK. He was just trapped in his social paradigm for a long time.

I credit the blogs for clearing the dust out of Joe’s eyes.
