It is ridiculously stupid to elevate the status, legal or otherwise, of the living Boston bomber. Treat him like we would anyone else, i.e., a low-life until we know what the fuck we’re dealing with, like, I don’t know, whether he IS actually an “enemy combatant.” We can figure it out from there if we have to.

Two things. First, good luck with that, and more importantly, the reasonably well-off will always have access to safe abortions, while the uber-rich get them as casually as any welfare queen ever.

It takes a true moron-whore/whore to fail to understand the historical and human reality of abortion. Women who don’t want to have babies, at least a lot of them, are not going to have babies whether “legal” or not, and this fucking planet has babies to spare. We’re down to our last 7-8 billion at last count.

I’ve paid attention to Hagel for a long time, and though we disagree very substantively and substantially on a whole range of political issues, I too am a pragmatic midwestern non-dumbass, like Chuck, and I trust him almost implicitly for how much I disagree with him. He’s a good fucking man.

A brilliant political and policy move, all in all.

If there was ever anything conservatives were going to get stuffed up and down their redneck, bigoted, racist asses and throats, respectively, this is one.

One extra note on the Republican-friendly nature of national journalists as a class: I think they’re currently very pissed off at Obama for getting reelected. Karl Rove wasn’t the only meltdown on election night. The newsy set were humiliated in front of the entire country when their two most cherished narrative sacred cows were slaughtered before their eyes. ‘America Is A Center-Right Nation’ and ‘The Election Is A Squeaker’ both died very public and obvious deaths. It’s not just the shame, but the narrative IS reality to them. They believed it, and they were shown that everything they knew was a lie. Since it can’t be their fault, they blame Obama!
