After watching the post-speech Wright flap chatter, considering the “mash up” video quickly produced, and considering that I know there are X% of people who wouldn’t vote for Jesus Christ himself if his tan was too deep and his nose was suspiciously “Mediterranean,” I don’t think America is ready to elect a black President.
I sure hope I’m wrong. Maybe my vision of this country has been damaged so badly by two Bush the Lesser elections I’ve lost all hope. Not coincidentally, my view of the American media has shifted in the same direction. Over the same period of time.
Ron Brownstein, on the new Gregory show, two seconds ago: “Look how many times we’ve already played (Wright’s sound bites).” He said, “(This issue) isn’t going away.”
*sigh*
Update: Should be required reading, but unfortunately will not be. A preacher’s son spills the beans on some whitey weirdness from the pulpit. Thanks to C&L.
Update: The fine folks at Sadly, No! concur with me unconditionally, clearly.
